Summer Project Reflections

I spent this summer working on a wide variety of projects from signage, murals, to painting commissions. I love bouncing around from different styles of projects because it allows me to play with scale and subject matter. A common thread through the variety of projects I execute is that I use visuals in the planning stage to communicate what the project is going to look like.

For painting commissions, I like to create a small to-scale sketch to show the layout and colors before diving into the final piece. This helps both myself and the client make sure we’re on the same page before I put paintbrush to canvas. I have the same approach with mural and sign installations. I typically create a digital design as well and or mock up of what the final project will look like. This helps anticipate and adjustments that might need to be made like scale, colors, or design elements. See some of my summer project highlights below!

Local Love CHS
Project: Custom Mural Design + Installation

After months of dreaming, Local Love CHS decided it was time to make a bold statement in their Charleston based boutique. They sell handmade goods from 100+ local artists and wanted to highlight the core values of their business through a mural in the entrance of their space. The inspiration images for the design were all femme, boho, and vintage feeling. It was important to get the colors just right. I created a few rounds of designs until we finally settled on the design below. We all love it!

Kiawah River Farms
Project: Hand-Painted Signage with Enhanced Branding

As Kiawah River builds out the presence of their farms, they are slowly incorporating custom signage that embodies their visual identity. Working together we came up with a design that is sophisticated, whimsical, and modern. I am looking forward to seeing it installed in it’s home on the exterior of a goat barn! Below you can see some of the color options I put together to choose from for the final design.

Custom Fine Art Commission

I have been creating a lot of tablescape inspired work throughout the course of this year. A fellow artist and friend felt that their close friend would love this style. As a housewarming gift, she commissioned a painting called “11 Lemons” to commemorate their friendship and an inside joke. The final piece was 18 x 24 and I just adore how it came out. If you are interested in a fine art commission as well, email me to get started.
